Environmental Policy

Canora Diamonds Inc.

Version: 1.0
Effective Date: 1 June 2026
Last Updated: 1 June 2026

1. Purpose

Canora Diamonds Inc. ("Canora Diamonds", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the environment and minimising the environmental impact of our business. We understand that the jewellery industry has direct environmental effects, primarily from energy-intensive manufacturing processes and the sourcing of raw materials from around the globe, which contribute to climate change and resource depletion.

This policy ensures that all aspects of Canora Diamonds are conducted in a way that minimises environmentally harmful activities and promotes sustainable practices.

2. Legislation

We ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation in the countries where our business operates, including:

  • Canada: Canadian Environmental Protection Act, provincial environmental regulations;
  • United States: Applicable federal and state environmental laws;
  • France / EU: EU environmental directives, French Environmental Code, REACH regulations.

We review our compliance obligations annually.

3. Policy Scope

This policy applies to:

  • Our head office in Toronto, Ontario (administrative operations);
  • E-commerce and logistics operations;
  • Packaging materials;
  • Product materials and sourcing (precious metals, diamonds, gemstones);
  • Jewellery manufacturing partners in India and our broader supply chain;
  • Business travel and remote working.

We do not operate physical retail stores. Our environmental footprint is concentrated in our supply chain, particularly jewellery manufacturing in India.

4. Carbon and Climate

We are committed to measuring and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions over time. Our approach includes:

  • Tracking Scope 1 and 2 emissions from our direct operations;
  • Working with suppliers to understand and reduce Scope 3 emissions in our supply chain;
  • Setting science-aligned reduction targets as our business matures;
  • Prioritising energy efficiency in our operations.

5. Energy

We will identify and implement energy-saving solutions wherever possible and work towards powering our operations with renewable energy where available. When procuring new premises or services, we consider the environmental impact of our choices.

6. Packaging

Our commitment to the environment extends to packaging:

  • Paper packaging is recycled or FSC-certified and fully recyclable;
  • Jewellery pouches and boxes use recycled or sustainable materials where possible;
  • Shipment packaging is designed to be recyclable or biodegradable;
  • We require suppliers to adhere to our packaging standards as set out in our Supplier Code of Conduct.

7. Product Materials and Sourcing

The raw materials used in our jewellery — precious metals, diamonds, and gemstones — represent a significant portion of our environmental footprint.

7.1 Precious Metals

We are committed to increasing the use of recycled gold, silver, and platinum across our collections. Recycled metals reduce the carbon intensity associated with mining. We require suppliers to source recycled metals from legitimate refiners where possible.

7.2 Diamonds

  • Lab-grown diamonds: We offer lab-grown diamonds as a lower-carbon alternative to mined diamonds. Where marketed, we disclose the growing method and energy source where known.
  • Natural diamonds: Where natural diamonds are used, they must adhere to the Kimberley Process to ensure they are conflict-free. We are committed to increasing traceability of natural diamond sources over time.

7.3 Gemstones

We are committed to sourcing gemstones from suppliers who uphold high social and environmental standards. We work with suppliers to increase traceability of gemstone origins.

8. Waste

We are committed to reducing waste in our operations and supply chain:

  • Our offices operate a reduce, reuse, recycle approach;
  • We minimise single-use plastics in our operations and packaging;
  • We engage with suppliers on waste reduction and responsible waste management.

9. Water

While our direct operational water footprint is minimal, we engage with our Indian manufacturing partners and other suppliers to ensure responsible water stewardship in jewellery production, including wastewater treatment and water recycling where applicable.

10. Business Travel

We encourage employees to reduce travel where possible and choose lower-impact modes of transport. Virtual meetings are preferred where practical.

11. Communication

This policy is available publicly on our website and communicated to all employees. Managers are required to consider environmental impact when making business decisions.
