Diamond and Jewellery Disclosure Policy

Canora Diamonds Inc.

Effective Date: 1 June 2026
Last Updated: 1 June 2026

1. Purpose

Canora Diamonds Inc. is committed to full transparency in the sale of diamonds, gemstones, and fine jewellery. This policy sets out how we disclose product characteristics to customers in Canada, and the United States, in compliance with applicable laws and industry best practices.

Finished jewellery is manufactured by approved partner facilities in India and imported by Canora Diamonds Inc. Country-of-origin and manufacturing disclosures are provided on product pages and order documentation where applicable.

2. Natural vs. Laboratory-Grown Diamonds

2.1 Clear Disclosure

Every diamond sold by Canora Diamonds Inc. is clearly identified as either:

  • Natural Diamond - formed naturally in the earth over billions of years; or
  • Laboratory-Grown Diamond (Lab-Grown) - created in a controlled laboratory environment using HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) or CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) methods. Lab-grown diamonds possess essentially the same optical, chemical, and physical properties as natural diamonds but have a different origin

The term “diamond” used without qualification refers to a laboratory-grown diamond unless clearly identified as natural.

This disclosure appears on:

  • Product pages on our website;
  • Order confirmations and invoices;
  • Grading reports and certificates (where applicable);
  • Physical packaging and documentation accompanying the diamond.

We never represent lab-grown diamonds as natural diamonds.

2.2 Regulatory Compliance

Canora Diamonds Inc. aims to comply with applicable consumer protection, advertising, competition, precious metals, and jewellery disclosure requirements in the jurisdictions where we operate. These Terms are based on applicable laws in your country of purchase, including FTC Jewellery Guides (USA), and Competition Bureau guidance (Canada) consumer protection requirements.

3. Diamond Quality Characteristics

For all diamonds, based on availability of parameters, we may disclose the following where applicable:

Characteristic Description
Carat Weight Carat weights are stated as accurately as reasonably possible and may be rounded in accordance with industry practice. For jewellery containing multiple stones, total carat weight (TCW) may be used and represents the approximate combined weight of all diamonds or gemstones.
Cut Cut grade (e.g., Excellent, Very Good, Good) or cut description
Colour Colour grade on the GIA scale (D–Z for white diamonds) or fancy colour description
Clarity Clarity grade (e.g., FL, IF, VVS1, VS1, SI1)
Shape Round, oval, emerald, pear, cushion, princess, marquise, heart, radiant, asscher, etc.
Measurements Length × width × depth in millimetres (disclosed where available and may be approximate for mounted stones.)
Fluorescence None, faint, medium, strong, or very strong
Polish & Symmetry Where graded
Origin Natural or laboratory-grown

4. Grading Reports and Certificates

Where a diamond is accompanied by an independent grading report, we disclose:

  • The name of the grading laboratory (e.g., GIA, IGI, GCAL, HRD, AGS);
  • The report/certificate number;
  • Whether the report is laser-inscribed on the diamond girdle.

Grading reports represent the expert opinions of the issuing laboratory and not guarantees, warranties, or appraisals. Canora Diamonds Inc. does not guarantee that another laboratory would assign identical grades. Different laboratories may apply different grading methodologies or standards. Reports may become outdated if a diamond is damaged, altered, re-cut, re-polished, or re-examined.

5. Treated Diamonds and Gemstones

5.1 Treatments

If a diamond or gemstone has been treated to enhance its appearance, we may disclose the treatment type, including but not limited to:

  • Laser drilling;
  • Fracture filling;
  • High-temperature annealing;
  • Irradiation;
  • Diffusion treatment;
  • Oiling (emeralds);
  • Heat treatment (sapphires, rubies).

Certain treatments may require special care and may affect durability, maintenance requirements, value, or long-term appearance. Treated stones are priced accordingly and disclosed at the point of sale.

5.2 Synthetic Gemstones

Synthetic (lab-created) gemstones other than diamonds (e.g., lab-created sapphires, emeralds) are clearly identified as synthetic or lab-created, not natural. Imitation or simulant gemstones, such as cubic zirconia, imitation sapphire, imitation emerald, or moissanite, are clearly identified and are not represented as natural gemstones unless they are in fact natural.

6. Conflict-Free Diamonds

Canora Diamonds Inc. is committed to using sustainable lab-grown diamonds only. But if we stated, “natural diamond”, its sourcing are conflict-free, in compliance with applicable laws. We seek to source natural diamonds from suppliers that comply with applicable conflict-natural diamonds, sanctions, and responsible sourcing requirements and certifications. Because global supply chains can involve multiple participants, we rely on supplier representations, warranties, and industry certification systems. See our Responsible Sourcing Policy.

7. Jewellery Metal Disclosure

We disclose the metal composition of all jewellery:

Description Standard
Solid Gold Karat (e.g., 9K, 14K, 18K) and colour (yellow, white, rose)
Platinum Stated as platinum (minimum 950 fineness)
Gold Vermeil Identified as vermeil (sterling silver base with gold plating); plating thickness disclosed where relevant
Gold-Plated Identified and clearly mentioned as gold-plated
Sterling Silver Identified as 925 sterling silver

Where applicable, rhodium plating, mixed-metal construction, metal finishes, coatings, and surface treatments are disclosed in product descriptions. Precious metal descriptions are intended to comply with applicable legal marking and advertising requirements in the jurisdictions where we operate.

8. Combined Products

When diamonds and jewellery are sold together (e.g., an engagement ring with a centre diamond):

  • The diamond specifications are disclosed separately;
  • The setting metal, design, and craftsmanship details are disclosed;
  • Total carat weight (TCW) is stated where multiple stones are involved, with centre stone weight separately identified.
  • Where a centre stone is highlighted in marketing materials, the centre stone specifications are disclosed separately from any accent or side stones

9. Custom and Bespoke Orders

For custom orders, we provide a detailed specification document for your approval before production, including all diamond and metal characteristics. Once approved, the item is produced to those specifications. Customers are responsible for reviewing and approving specifications before production begins. Minor manufacturing variations consistent with approved specifications may occur.

10. Accurate Marketing

We do not:

  • Exaggerate the rarity, investment value, or appreciation potential of diamonds;
  • Use misleading terms such as "real diamond" to imply natural origin when a stone is lab-grown;
  • Misrepresent the source, treatment, or grading of any stone;
  • Use stock images without disclosure where the actual item may differ.
  • Use manipulated imagery that materially misrepresents the appearance, size, colour, or quality of a product.
